Adaptation course II.B - Day Three (10.9.2020)

We spent the third, last day in the Slávia sports complex and in the rope center. After two more physically strenuous days, this trip was a break. On the tennis courts, the coach and talents from our class introduced us to the basics of tennis. Many of us have never held a rocket in our hands, but that has not deterred us. After tennis, we moved to the rope center, where we later had lunch.

Friday breakfast during PE lesson

The fresh air is beneficial for young people, which was also shown during a walk during a physical education class, which we upgraded with a join breakfast at a local café. This great idea originated in the heads of our third-graders, whom I thank for such a great beginning of Friday morning, September 11, 2020, before the next hours of creative study at our Bilingual high school BESST.

Ski trip

On 28th January we went for a ski trip in skiing centre Gerlitzen in Austrian Alps. We enjoyed wonderful skiing on perfectly maintained hills, we improved our abilities and made friendship bonds. After a difficult day full of skiing we relaxed to the fullest extend in the hotel wellness centre every day. We also enjoyed much fun while playing games and doing various activities. At the end of the ski trip we enjoyed beautiful scenery of Alps. Whole trip was going on without problems thanks to exemplary behaviour of our students. We cannot wait for our next ski trip!

Open Day at SBG BESST

SBG BESST opened our doors to the public today with visitors wanting to o put themselves in our shoes for the day. Classroom doors were opened and fully accessible throughout High school as students and parents alike took steps towards a new future.

In addition, our students prepared a programme designed to give real insight into life in our school community. Guests learnd about being a Start-up in year one, the activities that take place throughout the year such as BESSTed, Halloween and Jarmok and our student council. Our students also showcased some of their work from Czechoslovak week in which we commemorated the separation of two nations.

All in all it was a pleasure to see our high schoolers share their experiences and their hard work since September. Our visitors engaged in the day and maybe their next steps will be to our High school in September 2019.

Duke of Edinburgh Expedition: 23.6. - 25.6.

On Saturday afternoon, in order to control the quality of the tourist paths, we set out from the Jalšová village on our three-day tour around Považský Inovec. After two hours, we found ourselves on Ovčia Skala, a place where we planned to spend the first night. But we decided to go even further, so we continued. We reached the meadow, overlooking the village of Svrbince. We placed our tents there and heated ourselves in the fire in the evening.
The next day was the longest and most difficult. On our way, we have seen more ticks, hungry and tricky little creatures, than people. We only met few people, mainly runners or cyclists, we met "traditional tourists" only at Marhate (748 m). The sidewalks to Marhate are relatively well-marked and often cross the bikers' paths, which are mostly wide and solid.
After exhausting thirty kilometers we decided to spend the second and last night under Skalka (377 m). Once again, we found a nice meadow, where we spent a peaceful evening, if we are not taking into consideration the two hunters who came across. The next morning we climbed Skalka, after which we headed downhill to Hlbina, where we had our transfer arranged.
