To celebrate the European Day of Languages, we organised an interactive language morning for our students called Languages Unite.
The aim was to show students that languages are more than just school subjects – they are, above all, a means of communication, a way to understand other cultures, and an important part of further study and professional life. With the strong language skills they gain through bilingual education, our students had the opportunity to explore languages from a different perspective.
At 9 themed stations, guided by our Slovak and international teachers, students explored English, Slovak, Spanish, German, Ukrainian and Greek, as well as the history and development of languages.
They also discovered cultural differences across English-speaking countries, British slang, the Greek alphabet, intercultural communication and “false friends” in Slavic languages.
Students from Years I, II and III rounded off the language morning by creating posters inspired by this year’s theme, Languages Unite.
This time, languages were not just school subjects, but tools for communication, understanding and discovering other cultures.
