The big ones read to the little ones – our students visited a preschool and read captivating stories to the children. We spent enjoyable moments together, not only by connecting the youngest children with the oldest students, but also fostering a love for reading and imagination.
We’re already looking forward to more shared moments and new stories!
Physics in Action!
In the recent physics lessons, our students explored optics and mechanics. Classes II.A and II.B worked in the lab to calculate the refractive index of a transparent plastic block, while Class I.B investigated Hooke’s Law and determined the spring constant of a spring.

Unforgettable Ski Course in Austrian Gerlitzen
From February 10 to 14, 2025, our students embarked on an adventure to the slopes of the beautiful Austrian resort of Gerlitzen. Throughout the week, they fully enjoyed the snowy slopes, improved their skiing skills, and shared unforgettable moments together. The fantastic atmosphere was undeniable, as evidenced by the attached photos.

We would like to thank all the visitors who came to get to know our school, the atmosphere and the opportunities we offer. It was a day full of inspiration, meetings and unforgettable moments. We look forward to seeing all our future students and we hope to see you again soon!
In the past few weeks, our students prepared a program for the Christmas workshops and Christmas market. The organization was handled by the Student union and they did fantastic job. They sang Christmas songs and carols for the teachers and parents, creating a wonderful festive atmosphere.
Together, we made beautiful Christmas decorations, delicious gingerbread cookies and Christmas-themed soaps. We enjoyed the Christmas spirit with traditional cabbage soup, good food, and aromatic punch.

Last week, we opened our doors to all those interested in studying at our bilingual high school. We prepared a diverse program for parents and students year 8 and 9, which also attracted many external visitors.
Parents attended a presentation about our high school and the opportunities it offers, while students experienced classes in English with native speakers, English Mathematics and Physics, History, Slovak, Civics, and foreign languages such as German and Spanish.
Finally, SBG BESST students showcased their extracurricular activities and projects, including DofE, Academy of Great Works, mentoring, and the debate club. We hope you had an inspiring time with us.

Natália is an exceptional teacher who teaches biology. Her heart belongs to children and her approach inspires students to enjoy learning.

Our school was one of ten selected venues in Slovakia to host a recording of the Spectator College podcast this school year. Students had a unique opportunity to participate in a moderated discussion in English with a special guest. The invitation was accepted by Peter Bročka, mayor of the city of Trnava, who shared his views on experiences and challenges he is facing.
The students learned about the day-to-day work of the mayor and received valuable advice on personal development, teamwork and maintaining integrity in political environment. At the end the students could ask the mayor questions on the topics that they were interested in.

together with members of the student union, Ella Dagmar Kollarovits and Leon Keketi, we attended the introductory presentation meeting of the project organized by the Youth Council of the Trnava Region. The project, funded by Erasmus+, aims to support the development and quality of student parliaments. Our student union will have the opportunity to participate in training sessions, acquire new skills, create our own project, and present it at a conference.
„It is only with the heart that one can see rightly."
This quote was confirmed at the performance of The Little Prince at the Jan Palarik Theatre. The poetic philosopher, The Little Prince, who did not understand the adult world, included us into his world and we understood him. Students of I. A and I. B enjoyed the performance and its interesting adaptation.
"Retake in Compulsory Reading" attracted us, grade IV students heading toward the school-leaving exam in Slovak, to the House of Culture two weeks later. Although we take our school-leaving exam in Slovak seriously, it was the light form of acting, which explained how easy it can be to get to know the soul of Slovaks and also their production, that gave us an additional taste to read even the obligatory reading works.
We couldn't miss the amazing ballet performance called Carmina Burana. Students of II. A and IV. A and a few other art-loving kids enjoyed the performance of the SND ballet.
Carl Orff's beautiful cantata was inspired by one of the most sought-after contemporary choreographers, Edward Clug, and we witnessed his interpretation. The combination of music and dance was a fascinating celebration of life - and that was and still is very close to us, the young ones.
Students of Year IV have recently visited the Holocaust Museum in Sereď. They have learned more about life in a concentration camp under the guidance of an experienced historian.
The students had the opportunity to see the conditions and environment of the camp, the buildings where Jews lived, worked and awaited their fate. This excursion provided them with a lot of new knowledge about the Holocaust on our territory.
Let us not forget our history. Let us hope that society has learned from these terrible crimes against humanity, which trampled on basic human rights such as the right to life, liberty and security, and that they will never happen again.
At our recent presentation for 4th and 5th-year students, participants got an exciting glimpse into the world of Dutch education. Rebeka and Betka from the Holprom agency gave a compelling, professional overview of everything studying in the Netherlands has to offer—from unique study programs often unavailable in Slovakia to the admission process, adapting to a new country, and all the essential paperwork for moving abroad.
What made this presentation truly special was that both presenters have firsthand experience studying in the Netherlands, allowing them to share genuine, practical insights with the students. Many of our students are already set on seizing this opportunity and are planning to head to the Netherlands!
The Day of Opportunities was held at BESST High School last week. A number of guests visited the school with a variety of presentations to introduce the students to the reality of their daily work. The students could learn about the work of an interior designer, an owner of an auditing firm, a renewable energy expert, a finance expert, a Cambridge study consultant, and a manager of lithium battery development for electric cars. As a tradition, this event has been taking place for several years now and we are already looking forward to inspirational talks next year!
Our students participated in the nationwide event Science Night in Bratislava. They attended lectures on topics such as IT fitness, quantum computing, critical thinking, and plant ecology, which they found insightful. The research booths of various faculties were also interesting because the students could ask for information in areas of their interest.
The whole event was definitely enriching, and we are already looking forward to Science Night '25.
On the first day of October, there was Duke of Edinburgh Awards taking place at the University of Komensky, Faculty of Pedagogical studies in Bratislava with a remarkable representation of students from our school. After a year of working on their goals and completing the adventurous expeditions, sixteen bronze participants and two silver participants went there to celebrate their hard work. Together with the other participants from Trnava and Banska Bystrica region, they stepped proudly on the podium, received the DofE certificates and pins and enjoyed a well-deserved round applause. We are looking forward to going to the awards next year again with even larger numbers.
On October 9, 2024, our 4th and 5th-year students attended the European Higher Education Fair, Gaudeamus, in Bratislava. At BESST, there is a 100% interest in pursuing university studies, particularly abroad, and this event was the perfect opportunity for them. Lectures, a testing center, and advisory services for domestic and international schools—students took advantage of all these activities to benefit themselves and make their decisions about higher education easier.
At the beginning of September, our new students spent the last days of summer and got to know each other. Thanks to team-building activities, hiking in the beautiful surroundings of Považské Inovec, a visit to the Tematín Castle, and wellness in Banka, Piešťany, they got to know each other better. They started their five-year study journey at BESST.
It is with great enthusiasm that we once again open the doors of our gymnasium. We are starting a new school year, which brings new opportunities and challenges. Each of us has the opportunity to make this year extraordinary and successful. We believe that together we will succeed in creating an inspiring environment in which every student will be able to develop their talents, abilities and interests. Our teachers are ready to guide, support and inspire.
Success comes to those who are willing to work and do not give up at the first obstacles. We wish our students the will to be brave, curious and persistent.
We wish everyone a successful and inspiring school year, full of new knowledge, friendships and unforgettable experiences.

The last chapter of this school year is already written, one door has closed, but many more are opening.
